Back in the Saddle

So, after 6 months of commuting 3 hours a day, zero miles on the bike and about 20lbs weight gain, I’m finally back on the bike!

I’ve moved to a new place so only a 15 minute stroll to work, so at least now I should get back some time that I can put towards the turbo. Nearly all of the gains have been completely lost, but I’m starting back now to get in shape for next season. The flattest 10 miles in Ireland was cycled on Saturday, and it was tough, but delighted to be back! Hopefully I can press on now.

Well I have had a good laugh reading all your blog, made my day. In a nice way of course. We are a group of runners or former runners on my part and some very good friends (about 10 of us) who want another challenge and have looked at cycling your route Mizen to Malin next year. It looks a very good route and you have given some very good tips. Thank you for putting your tour down on paper so to speak for everyone who want to tour beautiful Ireland. It should be great fun, we have also looked at using Bike Adventures supported cycling holidays as we have to look at all options and budgets. Many thanks

Thanks for the comment, always nice to hear someone found it useful!

It was a great week, and delighted we did, we still talk about it a lot. We’re really happy we did it the way we did, took a few days longer, took our time, but enjoyed it. Also the coastal route is definitely the way to go. Some people want to just get it done as fast as possible and go straight through the midlands, but I don’t see the point in that.

Bringing your own gear is definitely harder, but we cheated by staying in B&Bs, so still a sense of achievement!
